ABSTRACT

As the semiconductor equipment industry matures and prices of new equipment continue to rise, most manufacturers are looking for alternative ways to reduce their equipment costs but still improve their tools’ performance and throughput. Many companies a refinding that one of the most cost-effective ways of doing this is retrofitting their own tools with modern control systems and component technologies that enhance tool performance, at a fraction of the cost of replacing them.
