ABSTRACT

Electronics manufacturers continue to expand their service offerings to encompass those functions that they can more cost effectively, efficiently and successfully perform for their customers. This trend is expected to continue, as electronics manufacturers become more significant value chain contributors, specifically in the areas of design, procurement, test, logistics, and sales and marketing. This entire range of functions that make up a value chain revolves around manufacturing requiring companies to bring their manufacturing operations together with numerous other business processes into the same information system. As electronics manufacturing companies strive to become more responsive to the dynamics of their customers and suppliers across this value chain, integrating manufacturing into this value chain becomes even more crucial.
