ABSTRACT

Under today’s economic challenges, wafer fabs must increase their productivity. Retrofitting existing manufacturing facilities is a cost effective alternative to new construction. Retrofitting provides opportunities to improve productivity through changes in products, process technology, wafer size conversions, or other enhancements. This paper presents a method for evaluating options and identifying the best solutionoperational analysis study. It also cites examples of re t rofit upgrade strategies that have proven successful for semiconductor manufacturers.
