According to a local news report, equipment manufacturer Lam Research could be planning to expand both its manufacturing operations and R&D efforts with the possible acquisition of vacant buildings in Livermore, CA with potential to employ 700 workers at the site within a few years.

Lam Research has seen strong growth in recent years fuelled by the massive investment made by memory manufacturers in new fab capacity. Lam is a major supplier to the majority of memory manufacturers around the world.
