Having secured further funding from the Government of Flanders through the period 2007-2011, IMEC is planning to hire approximately 100 extra people in 2007. The jobs cover all aspects of IMEC's expanding operations, from process and hardware technicians and engineers, operators, finance and legal experts, to both junior and senior level researchers.

IMEC also intends to increase its research efforts with a move to raise the number of Ph.D. students working at the R&D centre. Currently, IMEC has 180 Ph.D. students in attendance.
