ASML Holding NV has announced a scholarship fund that will benefit students of technology.  The master's scholarship, entitled the Henk Bodt ASML - TU/e Scholarship Fund, is jointly funded by ASML and Eindhoven University of Technology and is named after Henk Bodt, who has announced his retirement after 12 years as chairman of the ASML Supervisory Board.  The scholarship offers full tuition and living expenses for the duration of the two-year master's program, and also guarantees the scholar a three-year contract for a high-technology position at ASML.

Applicants for the 40 scholarships will place their hopes in the hands of the ASML and TU/e joint committee, who will assess the applicants' performance in their bachelor's degrees and admission tests.  The scholarships may be applied to such disciplines as engineering, scientific and mathematical M.Sc. courses, and build on the University's Brain Gain initiative - a combined effort to recruit talented students from foreign countries to avail of the University's master's degrees.

Ir. Henk Bodt was a graduate of the Eindhoven University of Technology and has been with ASML since the early years.  Mr. Bodt's guiding of the company into its first successful public stock floatation in 1995 led to his being appointed chairman of the Supervisory Board, a post he held up until his announcement of his retirement.
