VishayPersistently acquisitive Vishay Intertechnology has outlined an offer to purchase International Rectifier for $1.6 billion or $21.22 per share in cash. This is approximately a 20 percent premium to IR’s 30-day moving average of $17.69.

The non-binding proposal has been sent to IR’s Board of Directors, the company said. Vishay had purchased several product lines from IR in April, 2008.

Vishay has grown through acquisitions amongst which were Dale, Sfernice, Draloric, Sprague, Vitramon, Siliconix, General Semiconductor, BCcomponents, and Beyschlag.
