Vacuum
and abatement company Edwards has become the recipient of the South
Korean Government’s “Export Tower Award” for the fourth year in a row.
The award celebrates the company’s reaching of $70 million in exports
for the year, having met incremental targets of $10M in 2004, $20M in
2006 and $50M in 2007. Presentation of the award took place during
South Korea’s “45th Annual Day of the Export,” which event celebrates
companies that have contributed to the Korean economy.
The Export Tower Awards were first presented in 1964, having been established by President Park Jung Hee in appreciation of companies that reach certain export goals in a year. Subsequent award wins following a company’s initial receipt require incremental export values year-on-year for that company to win the award again, as seen with Edwards’ $70 million target for 2008.
Gary Harte, President of Edwards Korea, Ltd., accepted the award on behalf of the company, saying, “Edwards Korea Ltd. is very honored to be a recipient of this prestigious government award. It recognizes the robust growth that Edwards has achieved and highlights the company’s contribution to the South Korean economy.”
