Axcelis Technologies, Inc. has partnered with Shanghai-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer Kingstone Semiconductor Co., Ltd. with the aim of exploring ion implantation solutions for next generation device manufacturing. The companies will work together on the development of advanced ion implantation equipment and technologies, and the deal brings Axcelis’s reach further into the Asian market.
"The goal of this alliance is multi-faceted”, commented Mary Puma, chairman and CEO of Axcelis. “The unique semiconductor systems expertise at Kingstone will allow us to explore enabling ion implantation solutions for next generation device manufacturing. In addition, it expands Axcelis' footprint, enhancing our customer relationships and increasing our global sourcing opportunities in Asia."
Axcelis has Chinese offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, and also in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
