H. RuizThe widely touted but long anticipated strategic business move to an ‘asset-smart’ model for AMD would seem to be getting closer judging from comments from Hector Ruiz, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of AMD. Ruiz told financial analysts in a conference call that tangible details of its asset-smart strategy would be revealed in the ‘near future.’

Ruiz also said that he was leading the complex aspects of the model and was being undertaken at a ‘fast pace,’ though he declined several times in the Q&A session to be drawn on revealing any details or potential timing.

As noted by one of financial analysts, it is about a year since Ruiz first stated that AMD was starting a review of an asset-lite strategy that was later dubbed asset-smart.
