SEMI has named a long-time employee as its new president of SEMI North
America, appointing Jonathan Davis to succeed Victoria Hadfield,
effective Jan. 1, 2009. Davis will assume responsibility for the
group's North American programs, products, and services and will be
responsible for relationships with SEMI members as well as industry,
government, and academia in the region. Hadfield moves on to pursue
personal interests but will remain with the trade association in an
advisory role.

Tegal Corporation named Peter Dijkstra as the new VP of Global sales, effective immediately. He brings more than 25 years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment market implementing global sales and service strategies. Most recent, Dijkstra was Director of Worldwide Sales & Customer Support for Alcatel Micro Machining Systems (AMMS), a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent, which was acquired by Tegal in September 2008.
CyberOptics Semiconductor, Inc. has designated Ferris Chen as its new Director of Asian Sales to manage the company’s growing WaferSense brand in the region and implementation fabs located in Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia. Chen has held diverse sales roles in the Asian semiconductor industry, most recently as Sales Director of Greater China for Zygo Corporation.

Former Executive Vice President of AMD, Mario Rivas has resurfaced as the new Chief Executive Officer for Quartics, a GPU fabless semiconductor company. Rivas left AMD in May, 2008 as part of what AMD said was an organization reshuffle.
The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) has recently elected Vahid Manian as its Vice Chairman of the Board. He is filling the vacant seat that Sanjay Jha of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies left upon his departure. Manian has been with GSA’s Board since 2000.

Nabeel Gareeb, President and Chief Executive Officer of MEMC resigned his executive position and seat on the Board of the major polysilicon supplier to the semiconductor and photovoltaics industries. Gareeb will assist in a transition through the end of 2008, while Board member Marshall Turner will serve as interim CEO, effective November 12, 2008. The search for a permanent replacement for Gareeb will be conducted during this period.
Alberto Bozzo has been named AMD’s new corporate Vice President and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective January 2009. He will be in charge of all sales and marketing operations within EMEA and succeeds Emilio Ghilardi who was recently made AMD’s Chief Sales Officer.

ASML Holding NV has publicized Klaus Fuchs, VP Operations, has given confirmation to the Supervisory Board that he will resign from his position on the Board of Management as of 1 January 2009. The Supervisory Board is expecting to designate Frits van Hout, presently in charge of an all-inclusive efficiency improvement program, as the new member of the Board of Management, subject to notification of the general meeting of shareholders scheduled on 26 March 2009.
