Bringing a wealth of semiconductor-related experience to the company, Mr. Yang’s responsibilities as senior analyst, mobile flash memory and storage solutions will include overseeing research of mobile flash memory and hard disk drives as well as Solid State Drives (SSDs), which sector he initiated during his seven-year tenure at Samsung. Former Infineon executive moves to NXP as Head of Identification

ClemmerNXP Semiconductors has appointed Ruediger (‘Rudy’) Stroh as General Manager of the identification business, taking over from Christophe Duverne, whose new role will be announced in the coming days. A former Siemens and Infineon executive, Mr. Stroh brings several years of operations management experience to the role. TSMC’s U.S. IC design head goes to GLOBALFOUNDRIES

Subramani Kengeri has moved from TSMC to newly formed GLOBALFOUNDRIES as Vice President of Design Solutions. At GLOBALFOUNDRIES, he will report to Mojy Chian, who recently joined the company as senior vice president of design enablement. Kengeri was the head of TSMC’s U.S. based design centre. Read more >>

Two former NXP executives now at solar thin film start-up

Peter van Bommel, Chief Financial Officer, Odersun AGFollowing-on from the appointment of Hein van der Zeeuw as CEO in January, 2009, thin-film start-up, Odersun AG has recruited Peter van Bommel as its new Chief Financial Officer. Van Bommel’s last position was with NXP Semiconductor, formally the semiconductor division of Royal Philips. According to Odersun, van Bommel took the position on an interim basis at the beginning of year. van Bommel left NXP in May, 2008 for personal reasons, according to the NXP announcement at the time. GLOBALFOUNDRIES shuffles senior technology positions

Gregg BartlettNewly established foundry, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has appointed Gregg Bartlett as Senior Vice President of Technology and Research and Development. Bartlett took up the position about a month ago, leaving his position as Vice President of Design Technology at Freescale Semiconductor. Craig Sander, the former head of R&D has moved to a new role, reporting directly to company CEO Doug Grose, handling a range of unspecified ‘special projects.’ Bartlett will be responsible for collaborative R&D activities with the IBM Alliance. Micrel Inc. names David Schie VP of the Analog Business Unit
