Co-founder and former CEO of Oslo, Norway-based REC Reidar Langmo has accepted his seat on the board of directors of Voltaix, the semiconductor materials provider. Mr. Langmo was also a founding partner and CEO of Novus Energy Partners, from which company Voltaix has recently received an investment worth $9 million.
Following his co-founding of REC in 1994, Langmo played a major role in establishing REC as a well-known integrated solar energy company. Reidar holds an M.Sc. from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
"Reidar Langmo is one of the most accomplished executives in the clean tech industry," said Dr. Peter de Neufville, Chairman of Voltaix. "He and his colleagues at Novus bring to Voltaix both an exceptional base in semiconductor materials and a track record of successfully industrializing energy technologies."
The $9 million investment will be used to continue development of Voltaix’s manufacturing capabilities to meet growing demand for thin film-based solar power and advanced CPU and DRAM products.
