Craig BarrettIntel Corporation announced that Craig Barrett plans to retire from active management and his role as chairman and member of the board of directors at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting in May.

Mr. Barrett has held multiple roles at Intel since joining in 1974, most notably serving as CEO from 1998 to 2005. Barrett is currently the chair of the U.N. Global Alliance for Information and Communications Technology and Development, and has also recently participated in Intel’s World Ahead program to bring information technology to developing economies.

The board of directors has elected Jane Shaw, who joined the Intel board in 1993, to replace Mr. Barrett as non-executive chairman in May.
