Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) has revealed the
appointees of its 2009 Board of Directors’ election. With 11 vacant spots on the Board, the Association‘s
semiconductor members voted to elect four fabless and IDM representatives,
three from foundries, two test/packaging and back-end supplier representatives
and two from EDA/design companies.
The newest additions to the semiconductor directors are Vice President of Foundry, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., Ana Molnar Hunter, and Executive Vice President of Operations of the NVIDIA Corporation, Debora Shoquist. Senior Vice President of Product and Corporate Marketing at Altera Corporation, Danny Biran, and Vice President of Semiconductor Platforms at IBM, Mark Ireland, both of who were re-elected, join them. Each will begin a three-year term.
President of TSMC North America, Rick Cassify, President of the Americas Region at Chartered Semiconductor, Michael Rekuc, and President of UMC USA, Tony Yu, have all been re-elected to fill the foundry positions.
President and Chief Operating Officer of Amkor Technology, Kenneth Joyce has been re-elected with Chief Operating Officer at ASE Group, Dr. Tien Wu for the test/packaging and back-end supplier positions.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadence Design Systems, Lip-Bu Tan will join as an EDA/design partner, as well as re-elected Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys, Inc., Dr. Aart de Geus, both of whom will serve a two-year term.
A total of 25 members make up GSA’s Board of Directors, including the 11 positions recently filled.
