Newly established foundry, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has appointed Gregg Bartlett as Senior Vice President of Technology and Research and Development. Bartlett took up the position about a month ago, leaving his position as Vice President of Design Technology at Freescale Semiconductor. Craig Sander, the former head of R&D has moved to a new role, reporting directly to company CEO Doug Grose, handling a range of unspecified ‘special projects.’ Bartlett will be responsible for collaborative R&D activities with the IBM Alliance.
“Gregg brings a wealth of experience in both the collaborative development of advanced technology and its application to a variety of products,” said Grose, chief executive officer of GLOBALFOUNDRIES. “He also understands what it takes to transition from an internal supply chain to an independent, customer-focused company. Under Gregg’s stewardship, GLOBALFOUNDRIES will work to extend its technology leadership, raising the bar for the entire foundry industry and continuing to push semiconductor technology at the leading edge.”
While at Freescale, Bartlett was responsible for collaborative R&D efforts in the IBM Alliance and the Crolles 2 Alliance. He is also the Board Chairman for the Semiconductor Research Corporation and a member of the Semiconductor Industry Association’s Technology Steering Committee, among others. Bartlett holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Kansas State University.
