Semiconductor equipment and process solution provider SUSS MicroTec has added to its executive team with the appointment of Dr. Rainer Knippelmeyer as vice president of R&D and CTO. Dr. Knippelmeyer’s task in his new roles will involve the overseeing of all research and development activities and spearheading new technologies for the company’s products, with a cross-product technology roadmap being planned for the SUSS MicroTec group.
Dr. Knippelmeyer brings several years of executive-level expertise to the role, including a recent role as senior VP of operations at Carl Zeiss SMT. He has also held several roles in research and development from his employment at various Carl Zeiss AG companies.
“The constantly increasing demands for future technologies like 3D integration make it essential for the success of the company to even more tightly coordinate the product developments in our divisions. The creation of this new position goes hand-in-hand with the merger of our product lines Coaters, Wafer Bonders and Photomask Equipment at our Sternenfels site,” said Frank P. Averdung, CEO and president of SUSS MicroTec AG.
