Walking into the West Hall of the Moscone at next year’s SEMICON West will provide a look into the future of the semiconductor equipment industry as never before!

It will be both the start and end of the OEM semiconductor industry. I wish SEMI had said this would happen before last year’s show, as we could all have taken an extra moment to stop, look and take in the scene as it will never been seen this way again!

SEMI has announced that it is sharing SEMICON West with Intersolar, the event organizers of solar shows in Germany, with West Hall being the focal point of companies involved in the solar market.

Not only will equipment companies attend, but a broad spectrum of businesses throughout the supply chain will be interested. This will attract a serious amount of non-techies and - dare I say it! – CONSUMERS to the show! I had intended saying THE PUBLIC but that would have been too scary!!

Are things going that bad at SEMI that consumers will be allowed in?

Anyway, as a public information announcement, I would strongly recommend that you book your hotels earlier than normal - otherwise you may be disappointed.

To my own management, please read the above.

More information on the shared event is available here .
