Siltronic AG, will spend 136 million Euro to expand production of 300mm wafers at its
Burghausen and Frieberg facilities, both facilities are in Germany. Around 225 jobs are to be created as a result of production expansion, according to the company. "Worldwide demand for 300 mm wafers is rising steadily," stated Dr Wilhelm Sittenthaler, CEO of Siltronic. "By concentrating on the production of wafers of this diameter we're right on track."

Siltronics Burghausen production site has been allocated 60 percent, or 80 million Euros of the planned investment. This will result in 300mm wafer production increasing from 75,000 wafers to 135,000 wafers per month, an increase of 60,000 wafers.

The Freiberg facility will have an additional 50,000 wafer capacity, bringing the facility up to the 200,000 wafer capacity level.
