Ed Turney, 79, passed away this past Wednesday, 15 October. Turney, one of the eight founders of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., departed the company in 1974 to work for smaller semiconductor manufacturing and distribution companies.

Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1929, Turney joined the navy and became an electronics technician before working for Fairchild Semiconductor and AMD. During his professional career, Turney also spent time as a consultant to start-ups.
