Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, has placed orders with ASML for lithography tools worth an estimated $ 55million US dollars. The orders were placed between August 11 and October 6 2005, according a report by Bloomberg yesterday. The tools could be required to begin an initial ramp of a shell 300mm fab TSMC has in the Tainan Science Park, Taiwan. TSMC reported monthly record sales for September yesterday and projected last quarter that 300mm wafer starts per month would rise through the current quarter to reach 56,000wspm. TSMC's Fab 12 & Fab 14 are expected to reach full capacity in 2006. ASML reports its quarterly financials next week.
