Air Products said Monday that portions of its
New Orleans, La. industrial gas complex, which sustained extensive damage from
Hurricane Katrina, should begin operations within the coming months, with
substantial operations anticipated by the end
of the calendar year.
With water now pumped out and road access
restored a more detailed assessment and initial repairs are being carried out.
However, the timeline for power and natural gas supply restoration is still
unknown, according to the company.
The company also announced that it has secured
alternate feedgas sources and has re-established partial operations at its
Sarnia, Ontario, Canada facility. Originally shut down due to a planned
suspension of a supplier's feedgas, the plant resumed partial operations this
past weekend and is producing some quantities of liquid hydrogen.
