Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. has announced the appointment of
Shinichi "James" Machida as President and CEO, effective from June
23rd, 2008. Machida leaves his role as President of Fujitsu
Microelectronics Asia Pte. Ltd. (FMAL) in Singapore, and Fujitsu
Microelectronics Pacific Asia Ltd. (FMP) in Hong Kong, and replaces
Kazuyuki Kawauchi, who takes up another role with Fujitsu
Microelectronics Limited, Japan in September.
Machida has worked in various management positions at Fujitsu
Microelectronics Limited in his career and has been President of FMAL
and FMP since October 2006. He began his career with Fujitsu in 1984,
joining Fujitsu Limited in the North American Sales Support Division in
the Electronic Devices Group. In 1990, he worked with Fujitsu
Microelectronics, Inc. (FMI) in FMA's Operations group, and also worked
as a manager for special projects with FMA's strategic customers.
He
then moved to Fujitsu Limited in 1995 to work in marketing and sales
support for the Asia Pacific region and was promoted to Manager of
marketing and sales support for Europe in 1997. Machida then took up
the role of Marketing Director with responsibility for ASIC, networking
and mobile products and was then promoted to the role of Director and
deputy General Manager for global strategic marketing. Mr. Machida has
a B.Sc. degree in economics from Keio University, Tokyo.
