Eddy Hartenstein (pictured), former Chairman and CEO of DIRECTV, Inc.,
and William T. Morrow, CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric Company, have
joined the Broadcom Board of Directors. These new additions bring the
number of Board members to eight, seven of whom are independent
directors.
Mr. Hartenstein spent 14 years with DIRECTV in senior roles
including CEO, Chairman, Vice Chairman and President. He also held
several senior executive roles with Hughes Communications, Inc. and
Equatorial Communications Services Company. A member of the National
Academy of Engineering and recipient of an Emmy Award for lifetime
achievement in 2007, Mr. Hartenstein was inducted into the Broadcasting
and Cable Hall of Fame in 2002.
He has B.S. degrees in
aerospace engineering and mathematics from California State Polytechnic
University at Pomona, California, and an M.S. in Applied Mechanics from
the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.
Mr.
Morrow joined the ranks of PG&E in 2006 as President and COO,
taking up the CEO role in 2007. He also worked in senior executive
positions at Vodafone Ltd. and Vodafone Group PLC, including CEO of
Vodafone Europe, and President of Vodafone KK, Japan. Earlier in his
career, he served as CTO for Airtouch International’ Belgacom
Mobile-Proximus division and also spent 14 years with Pacific Bell.
Mr.
Morrow has a B.S. in electrical engineering from Condie College and
another B.S. in business administration from the National University in
San Diego, California.
