Sep 15, 2005 at 02:25 PM
Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of STMicroelectronics pioneering Environmental Decalogue, which sets out public targets for the Company's contribution to sustainable development, the company has posted online the full report for the year 2004. A few items noticed in the 116 page document concerned PFC emissions increased slightly over 2003 as production was ramped to meet demand. This was against plans to continue reduction programs. To that end the company will spend $5 million US dollars on more PFC abatement technology in 2005 in an effort to get back inline with longterm targets.

STMicroelectronics is also building a co-generation plant for its Catania fab as the energy savings of next generation plants has become increasingly compelling.

The company also noted that they may be experiencing some king of sex discrimination at its facilities in Grenoble, (Crolles1 and Crolles2 fabs). The company is investigating previous concerns from female workers and has a study underway.
