Freescale completes takeover of SigmaTel Print E-mail
May 01, 2008 at 05:00 PM

ImageTrading of SigmaTel stock has ceased with the news that Freescale Semiconductor has completed its takeover of the analog and mixed-signal IC company. Freescale paid approximately $110 million – in cash – for SigmaTel, representing $3 per outstanding share. The news of the acquisition was first reported in early February this year.

“SigmaTel's analog and mixed-signal IC technologies complement our successful portfolio of i.MX multimedia applications processors and position our multimedia business as a key growth driver for Freescale,” said Rich Beyer, Chairman and CEO, Freescale Semiconductor. “With this acquisition, Freescale enhances its technology and talent enabling us to provide our customers worldwide with one of the broadest, most feature rich multimedia portfolios on the market.”
