SEMI’s
Executive Summit at SEMICON Europa 200 saw the presentation of two
prestigious awards to two industry veterans. Professor Gilbert
Declerck, CEO of IMEC, was presented with the European SEMI Award 2008
for his work leading IMEC to its current status, while Roy Blunt,
Special Projects manager at IQE, was the recipient of the 2008 SEMI
Europe Standards Honor Award for his work in establishing the SEMI
Europe Standards Compound Technical Committee.
Following IMEC’s foundation in 1984, Professor Declerck maintained the company’s research focus on competitive technologies. His influence was a major factor in the creation of a strong position for IMEC in terms of European project development, and the subsequent move from basic process research to full CMOS process integration R&D at the end of the 1990s.
Roy Blunt established the SEMI European Standards Compound Committee in 1998 with Wolfgang Jantz. His dedication to the cause of standards has seen the development of sets of standards for key equipment and materials in use in semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
SEMI, the global industry association for manufacturing supply chains in the microelectronic, display and photovoltaic industries, presents these prestigious awards annually to members of the industry who have shown outstanding dedication and innovation in their respective areas of expertise.
