Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-21 17:25:46 This deal ackowledges the fact that Qimonda will go under sometime this year. |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-22 11:27:50 Editor response: Not under but acquired. There is a deal brewing right now in that respect and the other party is a North America-based manufacturer of DRAM, NAND and CMOS image sensors! Expect the announcement very soon as negotiations and especially price are almost done. A certain executive from Qimonda has had to cancel a trip to a tech conference in San Jose next week as things get finalized. |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-22 22:01:08 The finance people (not involved) think that there is a flexible route for Micron that keeps the $2 billion cash intact. Its share based deal on the back of Infineon having a stake that keeps value down. Infineon needs an exit and Micron has the door open. |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-22 22:08:10 If this is right, then Micron has 3x 300MM DRAM fabs in Taiwan. Two 300mm fabs in Singapore and a 300mm fab in Europe. Correct me, but Samsung or Hynix doesnt have any of that??? |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-22 15:33:53 Although Qimonda has a good price at this moment, where will the buyer take the money from? |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-29 09:35:56 Doesn't MU use stack and Qimonda use trench technology for DRAM? Do you still believe MU would acquire QI? |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-25 11:45:14 Nanya has denied the report: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nanya-to-Dismiss-Partnership-With-Micron-79264.shtml "According to Nanya's spokesman, the report is anything but accurate and was surely not issued by the two companies' officials. "The [DRAM] industry is in such a difficult situation right now, so there are a lot of rumors. This is just one of those rumors and it is not true," said Pai Pei-lin, a vice president and spokesman of Nanya Technology." |
Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-05 09:21:52 Nanya's spokesman statement was the "anything but accurate." Appears the report of a joint venture was true. |
