SMSC
has announced its addition of industry veteran Christine King to its
executive team. Ms. King takes up the role of President and CEO on
October 20th, taking over from Steven J. Bilodeau, who has decided to
retire from the role. Mr Bilodeau will, however, remain with the
company in a part-time capacity until February 2009 to aid in the
transition. Ms. King will also take a seat on the SMSC Board of
Directors.
Ms. King, a 35-year veteran of the semiconductor industry, was CEO of AMI Semiconductor for a six-year period until the company’s merger with ON Semiconductor. She also led several acquisitions by AMIS, including the mixed-signal business of Alcatel Microelectronics, the micro power products division of MicroSemi Corp. and the semiconductor business unit of Flextronics Semiconductor.
A member of the Board of Directors for Atheros Communications and ON Semiconductor Corporation, Ms. King has a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
