NAND flash demand bit growth to surpass 130 percent in 2008, says DRAMeXchange Print E-mail

ImageNAND flash demand bit growth is projected to remain strong and surpass 130 percent in 2008, according to DRAMeXchange. Supply bit growth is expected to be in the range of 130-140 percent for the year, suggesting that supply/demand equilibrium by the second half of the year is possible, noted the market intelligence firm.

However, DRAMeXchange estimates that NAND flash producers are continuing capacity expansions as well as aggressively migrating nodes with 60 percent of production expected to be in the 5x nm range by year-end.

NAND flash demand in mobile phones is expected to grow 10 percent y-on-y; digital camera shipments to grow by over 14 percent; UFD to grow by 25 percent and MP3/PMP to grow by 20 percent in 2008 compared to 2007.

DRAMeXchange expects tight supply in 3Q is still likely, as Apple usually starts increasing its procurement levels in the third quarter.
