H. RuizAMD has announced the replacement of six-year CEO Hector Ruiz (pictured) following months of speculation regarding the company’s overall wellbeing. Mr. Ruiz will take up the role of company Executive Chairman and Chair of the Board of Directors, while current AMD President and COO Dirk Meyer takes over as CEO. Mr. Meyer has served as COO since 2006 and has been with AMD since 1995.

Ruiz will aid in the transition of roles to Meyer, who, says Ruiz, “is a gifted leader who possesses the right skills and experience to continue driving AMD and the industry forward in new, compelling directions.”
