Evans Analytical Group (EAG) has completed the acquisition of Micro Electronic Failure Analysis Services, Inc. (MEFAS), based in Lake Forest, California USA, making it one of the largest players in the world for electronic failure analysis. The MEFAS acquisition is the latest that EAG has undertaken; recently it has acquired AMER (December 2006) and Accurel Systems (May 2007).
“MEFAS is a clear leader in the electronic failure analysis market, with a range of technical expertise that is acknowledged throughout the industry,” noted David Lahar, Executive Chairman of EAG. “Combined with EAG’s integrated lab network whose reach extends into strategic high growth tech regions such as China and Taiwan, we can now support global customers with a comprehensive array of electronic failure analysis and reliability testing services when and where they are needed. Failure analysis and reliability testing services directly complement EAG’s strengths in the surface analysis and materials characterization market, and we intend to aggressively pursue further expansion of our FA and reliability testing capabilities to better serve our customers. EAG is actively engaged in discussions with several acquisition candidates in this area and expects to close other transaction[s] before the end of the fiscal year,” Lahar added.
MEFAS provides microelectronics testing, qualification, and characterization, including reliability qualification testing, electrostatic discharge and latch-up testing, focused ion beam circuit edit capabilities, and device and system level failure analysis services.
