Crystal IS, Inc., announced that Dr. Steven Berger will join the company as President and CEO. Berger was previously COO and CTO at FEI Company. He also served as Technical Manager at AT&T’s Bell Labs and taught at Cambridge University.

“I could not be more excited to join Crystal IS,” said Berger. “Providing the world with clean water and clean air are billion dollar global opportunities—and Crystal IS is the only company capable of manufacturing AlN substrates needed to power high performance UV-LEDs.”

Berger holds a Ph.D. from the Cavendish Laboratory. He possesses a dozen U.S. patents and is published in the fields of electron beam lithography, microscopy and analysis.
