Micron’s establishment of the center is aimed at the furthering of
development of next-generation technologies. Undergraduate students of
the college will garner valuable experience, taking courses in
inter-chip communications, digital image and signal processing, mixed
signal design and parallel processing.
Incorporating an
estimated 18 students each year from undergraduate-, master’s- and
doctorate-level, the students will also be eligible to apply for
research scholarships and funding as part of Micron’s donation. With
this funding, Micron continues its patronage of USU, having donated
$100,000 in 2002 to aid in the establishment of the Micron Digital
Systems Lab and a further $100,000 in 2004 to create the Micron Imaging
Library.
