When you go out to see a ballgame, semiconductor equipment companies are not the most obvious sponsors that come to mind.
I remember seeing an Applied Materials sign at the San Francisco Giants' SBC (now AT&T) Park in recent years. (Help me, Giants fans -- does AMAT still have an ad there?) San Diego-based Cymer now has its name plastered on the wall near first base at the Padres' Petco Park. Not sure if the corporate signage from the laser-source leaders has added to the mojo that the resurgent Pads have had lately. Or if the addition of Ed Brown, a San Diego native, to the company's executive team might be helping too. (Personal disclaimer -- Found out recently that Ed is the Ed Brown that I grew up with in Point Loma -- we were in Little League, Boy Scouts, and school together, although I was a year older. Weird small-world stuff, but I digress....)
So here's a digiphoto from Petco, courtesy of the Cymer folks. Find me some peanuts and Crackerjack indeed. If you know of any other Chip Shots--worthy corporate signage, send it along.
