A few branding suggestions for Applied Materials' new solar venture Print E-mail
Oct 10, 2006 at 01:12 PM
One of the stories to hit the wires during Chip Shots' summer hiatus was the official launch of Applied Materials' new solar-panel process-tool unit. Since branding and sloganeering are an "essential" part of any new product or group launch--and (re)branding a constant source of unconscionable billings for many marketing and advertising types--I thought I'd offer a few freebies to my friends at Applied.

  • "Applied Materials--We Won't Let the Sun Go Down on You" (apologies to Reginald Dwight, er, Elton John)

  • "Applied Materials--We Are Stardust" (apologies to Crosby, Stills, Nash and even Young as well as an undetermined number of hippies and new agers [is that redundant?])

  • "Applied Materials--The Power is in the Process" (apologies to Madison Ave.)

If anyone has any other playful (or scathing) branding suggestions, for Applied or any other entity, please send them along.
