One of the better newsletters dealing with chipmaking cost and productivity issues is Wright Willliams & Kelly's Applied Co$t Modeling newsletter.
The fall edition is out, and it includes two informative articles: "Financial Justification for Cycle Time Improvement Efforts," penned by FabTime's Jennifer Robinson, and WWK honcho David Jimenez's "Cost of Ownership Impacts on LPCVD Poly Silicon Deposition."
The second article summarizes more of WWK's COO studies of Integrated Materials' SiFusion silicon furnaceware, which was also discussed in "The BIG Idea" feature in the June 2006 (AKA second-to-last) issue of MICRO. In a word, the results look promising, something borne out by IMI's landing of Hynix as a customer.
