While "researching" the blogosphere earlier today, I happened upon a mention and link to an article titled "Pitching Bloggers: 10 Things That Make Bloggers Angry" on the http://www.buildabetterblog.com site. For those of you toiling in the media relations, PR, publicity, corporate communications, and related trenches, it provides some useful suggestions for pitching story ideas to bloggerish folks like myself.

I do take issue with its differentiation between "bloggers" and "journalists" though, since some of us wear both hats. I believe that one way a niche/focused blog like Chip Shots can gain legitimacy and an actual audience, and might even have a snowflake's chance in Hades of making a bit of money and surviving, is by not abandoning good journalistic practices. Although I share my opinions freely here, I try and get my facts straight and follow the general who/what/when/where/why/how training and instincts of a good reporter.

So when you do pitch me, please get your own facts right and spell my name correctly.
