Mattson nabbing of Uppal another example of "hire your customer" adage Print E-mail

M attson's announcement today that it has hired Jack Uppal, former Intel director of capital equipment development, to be senior VP of marketing and biz development is another good example of "if you want to know your customers, then hire one." Although some executives, managers, and grunts have not been able to successfully navigate the transition from working for a chipmaker to joining the payroll of a tool or materials supplier, there are many examples of those who do take the leap without a stumble.

Kudos to Mattson for nabbing Uppal, and good luck to him as he finds out how the other half lives.
