Anyone who has tried to get an Intel employee to "officially" acknowledge that Company A or Z is or is not an Intel supplier knows that that is about as easy as convincing Dick Cheney to disclose what he had for breakfast.
The exception to this close-mouthed policy is when Intel honors its best suppliers with the coveted Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) and Preferred Quality Supplier awards. The winners were announced earlier today.
Congrats to each of the 54 companies that won one of the awards. Many familiar companies were lauded---e.g., TEL, Hitachi, Sumco, Cabot, AZ, DNP, Screen, United Van Lines---as well as some not-so-familiar---e.g., Grohmann Engineering and Moses Lake Industries. Of course, eyebrows are raised yet again for those who didn't garner any recognition from Intel, including Applied Materials, KLA-Tencor, and a certain litho exposure tool manufacturer---which will remain, well, nameless.
