The University of Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering
(CNSE) has announced that it will host a job fair for Vistec
Lithography on January 24th, 2007 in the University's NanoTech
Complex. The company's entire operations have relocated from the UK to
New York's Capital region, helped along by a $30 million funding grant
from the New York State Assembly.
The fair marks the initial stages of Vistec's local hiring plans, which
will include some high-tech positions that will be filled immediately.
The company will have officials on site to accept résumés and conduct
preliminary interviews, while the Arsenal Business and Technology
Partnership and the New York State Department of Labor will provide
assistance at the event.
The
company's headquarters, business operations and manufacturing
department are to be located at the Watervliet Arsenal Technology
campus, with a joint research and development facility at the new
Center for Nanolithography Development at the University of Albany
NanoCollege. It has been announced that Vistec will invest $125
million at the Arsenal campus and will create 130 jobs.
Vistec's
strategic placement of its facility means that it is ideally located to
enlist the technical graduates from the college, providing
opportunities for local emerging professionals. Local materials and
service companies received invitations to the event to speak with
Vistec officials regarding potential business opportunities, while
members of the New York State Assembly have welcomed the move and its
potential for development of the area's technology sector.
