OSIsoft, Inc., a Real-time Performance Management (RtPM) software provider is to support SEMI Interface A standards. In this effort, OSIsoft will provide semiconductor manufacturers a real-time software platform to incorporate and comprehensively display critical operational information into a common format for storage, visualization, and advanced applications. OSIsoft joins Asyst Technologies and Microsoft in their efforts to speed the adoption of Interface A in the semiconductor industry.

Access to real-time operational performance metrics is fundamental to semiconductor manufacturers' automation and process variation reduction efforts. These needs are further addressed by the technical advantages of implementing Interface A using the Microsoft .NET architecture, which enables web-based applications and XML web services and the Asyst EIBTM (Equipment Information Bridge) software product, which provides direct access to real-time data from manufacturing equipment.

"OSIsoft and Asyst both demonstrate the knowledge and expertise associated with a keen understanding of industry challenges," said John McCallum, high tech industry manager for the Manufacturing Industry Unit at Microsoft. "By working together and building on the Microsoft platform, OSIsoft and Asyst are delivering an Interface A solution that helps improve operational performance and addresses a critical industry need."

"As an early .NET development partner, OSIsoft has learned that the platform is a powerful catalyst for connecting the manufacturing environment," said Michael Saucier, vice president of Marketing, OSIsoft. "By encouraging common interface within the complex semiconductor manufacturing environment, OSIsoft and Asyst can deliver a complete view across the fab floor, which will not only speed time-to-market, but ultimately minimize process variability and equipment downtime to help manufacturers achieve operational excellence."
