Macho Micron imaging chips go offroad Print E-mail
Oct 18, 2006 at 10:11 AM
I knew Micron Technology boss Steve Appleton liked to take risks, both in the business world or in the air flying one-man stunt planes. So imagine my lack of surprise when I heard about the chipmaker's latest promotion--sponsoring four cars/teams in next month's Baja 1000 offroad race. The company wants to show off the durability/reliability of its CMOS image sensors, which will be deployed as driver and road video cameras on the team's Subarus. Micron subsidiary Lexar will provide the 8-Gb compact flash chips to handle the memory/storage duties.
