UMC also says quake had little impact on operations Print E-mail
Dec 27, 2006 at 12:22 PM
Although I didn't get a direct reply from UMC's media folks to my query about any impact from the recent earthquake off the coast of Taiwan, the company did file this brief press release. Here's the entire PR.
"United Microelectronics Corporation today announced that the 6.7 magnitude earthquake recorded off Southern Taiwan yesterday at 8:26 P.M and resulting aftershocks did not impact the company's production. UMC's Hsinchu fabs and Fab 12A in Tainan sustained only a very negligible impact to their operations from the earthquake, with no interruption in power or water service. Normal operations resumed shortly after the incident."

Again, anyone with additional info, please pass it along to Chip Shots.
