Air Liquide has said that it has won a ten-year contract to supply Sunfilm with industrial and specialty gases and services at its first major thin-film solar plant currently being constructed in Grossröhrsdorf, Germany. The contract comes under Air Liquide’s ALUX turnkey specialty gas solutions for the solar industry that includes the supply and management of provision of nitrogen, hydrogen, silane, NF3 and helium.
“Our recent successes in Germany, but also in the rest of Europe, the US, and in Asia, illustrate the relevance of our ALUX offer, dedicated to the solar industry,” said François Darchis, Senior Vice President in charge of World Business Line Industrial Merchant in Air Liquide. “The Group’s innovation capabilities allow us to meet the needs of customers using new technologies and to benefit from the booming growth of the solar industry”.
As part of the new contract, Air Liquide will construct a nitrogen on-site production unit and all the facilities required to manage bulk specialty gases containers directly on the site.
It is claimed that Sunfilm will be the first company to manufacture 5.7m2 tandem thin film photovoltaic modules on glass substrates on a production line supplied by Applied Materials.
