VLSI Research has revealed the best equipment suppliers as rated by customers in Taiwan on cue for SEMICON Taiwan taking place this week. In this extended list of 20 companies, ion implanter specialist Varian Semiconductor was ranked first with an overall ranking of 8.71 up from fourth position with a ranking of 7.97 in 2006.
Other fast risers included Kulicke & Soffa, ranked fourth this year, but like Oerlikon Balzers, which was ranked sixth in the 2007 review, did not appear in the 2006 rankings!
The worst drop was seen by AIXTRON, which surprised many in 2006 by being ranked first. However, in 2007, the small cap company did not make the Top 20 rankings at all.
Lithography companies ASML and Nikon both improved their rankings in 2007. ASML moved up a spot to third with an overall ranking of 8.50 while Nikon entered the rankings in 2007 at nineteenth.
Note: ** The top-rated criteria for this company is a tie between two or more criteria. Results are derived from the customer satisfaction survey run in the spring of 2007.
