300MM Activity Report: Number 3 Print E-mail
Jul 01, 2003 at 12:00 AM
300-mm fab activity in the first 5 months of 2003 has increased considerably. Japan, China, and Taiwan are the countries where construction projects are most active. However, European projects are continuing, while the US seems to be lying low, with only Intel active with 200-mm to 300-mm conversion projects. The lull in the number of tool installs as projected in the last report has not helped the equipment vendors in this time period. However 4th quarter 2003 plans to be a busy time as major projects ready cleanrooms for the first phase of tool installs. Here we highlight the developments in Japan with the ‘mini-fab' approach and the continued 300-mm expansion plans of Infineon around the world.
