Analog Devices cuts 150 jobs at its Limerick, Ireland plant (updated) |

Analog Devices' presence in Limerick in the west of Ireland has been lessened with the announcement that the fabless company is planning to cut the jobs of 150 of its 1,100 employees. The news is accompanied by the announcement that the company plans to phase out and close one of its sections at this location.
The reason given for the cuts is development within and adherence to Analog Devices' more advanced processes at the same location. Further information is available here: http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/0823/limerick.html
Update - August 24th: The company released a statement regarding the future development plans, which will see the company focus manufacturing efforts on 8-inch wafer production. It foresees closure of the 6-inch production facility by the end of 2008. The Irish Times has more information:
