Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) may be the first company to place orders with start-up Aquest Systems for its ‘FabEX' automated material handling system (AMHS) worth in excess of $2 million.
"During a six-month period of collaborative work with the PSC team, we optimized FabEX to provide PSC with high capacity and the short delivery times needed to meet their manufacturing requirements," stated Dr. Mihir Parikh, President and CEO of Aquest. "We are optimistic that this first step will demonstrate FabEX's capability to provide a fully integrated fab-wide AMHS solution to fulfill Aquest's vision of No-Wait-Manufacturing."
PSC intends to evaluate the higher speed and larger capacity handling claims of Aquest's system at two separate 300mm fabs, Fab 12A and 12B, according to Aquest.
