With the editor cuts at CMP still ringing in my ears, I got wind of the loss to the semiconductor editorial community of Dave Lammers from VLSI Research's online enterprise.
Dave was previously at EE Times and was cut from there in a previous wave not that long ago. So a double blow for Dave - or maybe not? Tom over at Chipshots (http://www.micromagazine.com/blog/) said in his blog that Dave has been hired by Semiconductor International to generate and gather news for the newly-designed website, soon to be released.
That is great news for Dave and SI as the publication was limited in its ability to generate focused news stories. With Dave's experience in tow, it will certainly be a boost for SI.
It's also a boost for tech journalists as a whole, as I was getting the strong feeling that we would become a rare species in fear of extinction - but without the benefit of the ‘endangered species' protection label!
Good on SI for expanding its editorial team when most around us are doing the opposite.
